West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International Women's Flag Football team competed against the Keiser Seahawks in the semifinals of the SUN Conference tournament. After jumping out to an early lead, the Warriors were unable to contain the Seahawks, falling 40-18.
The Warriors started the game by winning the opening coin toss, electing to defer. The Seahawks started with the ball and were unable to drive it past the 40-yard line, resulting in a four-play drive, giving Webber excellent field position. The first play for the Warriors resulted in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Samantha Wilson to Rylee Bolser. The first play of Keiser's next drive was intercepted by Bolser, giving Webber momentum and field position. Wilson found Kaitlyn Sigmundi on second down before firing a pass to Jasmine Henry for the touchdown to give the Warriors a 12-0 lead. Keiser was able to drive down the field on their next drive, with Sigmundi, Cheyenne Durand and Bolser making a majority of the tackles. They were unable to keep the Seahawks out of the endzone as they cut the lead in half 12-6. The Warriors punted on their ensuing drive after failing to move the ball.
Keiser started with the ball around midfield and drove down the field again. However, great defensive pressure from Henry forced an errant throw, resulting in a turnover on downs for the Seahawks. Outside of a 10-yard completion to Bolser, the Warriors went three and out again with another punt from Faith Cullen-Cooper. Keiser needed only three plays to get into the endzone and were successful on their two-point attempt, making it 14-12. Webber would be forced to punt again, and the Seahawks again drove down the field at scored, making it 21-12. With 33 seconds on the clock, Wilson found Zoe Melo and Sigmundi as they drove down to the 17-yard line. With one second left however, Wilson's pass would go out of bounds incomplete.
Webber got the ball to start the second half. A first down completion to Brea Kamm helped extend the drive, but Webber would punt again. Keiser was able to score again, but the point after attempt went no good, making it 27-12. Wilson completed passes to Melo, Henry and Sigmundi, but two straight incompletions turned the ball over giving Keiser the ball at midfield. Henry picked up a sack on Keiser's first down play, and the Seahawks turned the ball over after another fourth down incompletion.
Wilson completed passes to Bolser and Sigmundi for 24 yards, however her third down pass was intercepted near the endzone. Keiser needed one play to find the endzone again, making it 33-12. Webber had another three and out result in a punt, and Keiser drive down again for their final score of the game, making it 40-12. On the Warriors final drive, Wilson completed passes to Abbygale Jordan, Gabby Franzose, Nurishka Oyola, and Emma Balacco. Wilson found Franzose for an eight-yard touchdown as the Warriors fell 40-18.
