Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. (April 10, 2023) - The Webber International University women's flag football team traveled to Georgia to battle Thomas University for the second time this season on Thursday. The Warriors struggled to get going offensively in a 19-6 defeat to the Night Hawks, who remain undefeated on the year.

Webber (8-5 overall, 3-5 SUN) was forced to punt on its opening three offensive drives and were held to just 136 yards of total offense. Thomas (11-0, 6-0) tallied 259 yards of total offense, 217 of which came through the air.

The Night Hawks opened the scoring on their first drive, going 38 yards and rushing in a one-yard touchdown for an early 6-0 lead. The Warriors had a prime scoring opportunity in the second quarter following an interception by Samantha Gonzalez which gifted them possession in Thomas' own half. However, the Night Hawk defense stood strong and responded with an interception of their own. They would then score on the ensuing drive to take a 12-0 lead heading into halftime.

Thomas continued to put the pressure on as they scored with the opening drive of the second half, extending the lead to 19 after a successful point-after-attempt. The Warriors were held scoreless on their only offensive possession of the third quarter after being forced to punt. Webber finally put together a complete offensive drive in the fourth quarter after driving 65-yards for its first points of the game which came off of a 12-yard touchdown reception by Breaza Robinson from Samantha Wilson. It was too little too late, however, as Thomas burned out the remaining time on the clock to seal the win.

Wilson ended 24-of-35 with 132 passing yards and a touchdown. Her leading receiver was Kayla Burrows who reeled in four catches for 41 yards followed by Robinson with three grabs for 26 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Gonzalez was a stand-out with a career-high 11 flag pulls and added an interception as well for her second of the season. She was followed by Burrows and Robinson with eight flag pulls each.

The Warriors will now prepare for their next test against Keiser University this Thursday, April 13th at 6:30 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Florida.
