Box Score 3 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (March 17, 2023) - The Webber International University women's flag football team traveled to Campbellsville University to take on three non-conference opponents on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Warriors returned with three victories in which they outscored their opponents 102-7.
The Warriors (5-2 overall) played two games on Tuesday, the first of which was against the hosts, Campbellsville (2-8).
Webber opened the scoring in the first quarter after
Samantha Wilson connected with
Kayla Burrows for a touchdown of over 40-yards through the air. The Warriors struck once again in the quarter as
Breaza Robinson reeled in a four-yard touchdown pass from Wilson, doubling the lead to 12-0.
Jasmine Henry extended Webber's lead yet further after reaching the endzone on a 10-yard rush. After converting a two-point conversion on the ensuing play, the Warriors held a 20-0 lead at halftime.
The Warriors scored once more in the third quarter on a seven-yard touchdown rush by Wilson to make it 27-0. The defense held strong to earn the shutout as they earned victory number one.
Wilson ended the game with 158 yards passing, two passing touchdowns and one rushing. Burrows led the team receiving with four catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Defensively,
Cameron Laine recorded her second interception of the season thus far.
Webber then took on Cottey College (2-5) later that same day and blanked the Comets 41-0 in dominating fashion.
Wilson had a great game offensively, completing 18 of her 22 pass attempts for a total of 209 yards and four touchdowns.
Ciara Zino was 5-of-7 for 45 yards and ran in her first collegiate touchdown from seven yards out. 11 different Warriors finished with at least one catch as Burrows led the team with 60 yards receiving. Burrows also led the team defensively with five flag pulls and an interception which she returned 25 yards for a touchdown.
Jada Dillard recorded two sacks as
Brea Kamm and
Zoe Melo each had an interception as well.
The following day, the Warriors faced first-year program, Reinhardt University (2-6) and earned a 34-7 victory.
Wilson tossed for nearly 200 yards in game three and two touchdown passes as well.
Kaitlyn Sigmundi completed her third pass of the season for her third touchdown of the season as well. Zino racked up a team-high 54 yards on the ground as
Hayden Rupe led the Warriors with 114 receiving yards and a touchdown. Burrows had over 100 yards receiving as well and snatched two touchdowns.
The Warriors now return home to face the University of Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. on the Warrior Turf Field. They will then return to Sun Conference play the following week.
