Warriors earn six all-conference honors for inaugural women’s flag football season

BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 15, 2021) – The Sun Conference has announced its all-conference team for the first ever collegiate varsity women's flag football season, and Sierra Harris, RayGene Garner, Kayla Burrows and Breaza Robinson from Webber International University were each apart of the history-making announcement.

Burrows and Garner were named all-conference for both offense and defense, Harris was named all-conference for offense, and Robinson also earned the award for defense.

In the end, Webber was the only team with three selections on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Harris is a freshman quarterback from Belleview, Florida, who completed 116 of her 173 passes (67.1 percent) on the season for 1,152 yards (164.6 yards per game) and 16 touchdowns (141.95 efficiency rating). She also rushed 32 times for 134 yards (4.2 yards per rush; 19.1 yards per game) and three touchdowns, and had one reception for an 11-yard touchdown. She had a combined 20 total touchdowns on the season between passing, rushing and receiving. On February 13, 2021, Harris, who was also named TSC Offensive Player of the Week three times during the season, made history by completing the first touchdown pass in the history of collegiate women's flag football in the first quarter of Webber's first game of the season vs. Midland.

Garner is a graduate student and wide receiver/linebacker from Tallahassee, Florida, who had team-high six receiving touchdowns on the season and finished with 24 receptions for 286 yards (11.9 yards per catch; 40.9 yards per game). She added four rushes for 28 yards (7 yards per rush) and one touchdown, and was 13-for-22 passing (59.1 percent) for 141 yards and one touchdown (109.75 efficiency rating). She had eight total touchdowns between receiving, rushing and passing, and she caught the first touchdown in the history of collegiate women's flag football in the first quarter of Webber's first game of the season vs. Midland.

On the defensive side of the ball, Garner finished with 42.5 flag pulls, two tackles for a loss of five yards, two interceptions and four pass breakups.

Burrows is a sophomore running back/rusher from Hollywood, Florida, who had 22 receptions for a team-high 290 receiving yards (13.2 yards per catch; 41.4 yards per game – both team-highs) and one touchdown. She also rushed eight times for 65 yards (8.1 yards per rush) and one touchdown.

Defensively, Burrows finished with four interceptions for a team-high 124 return yards, a team-best four defensive touchdowns, 15 flag pulls, a team-high four tackles for a loss of 24 yards, a team-best three sacks for 15 yards, and one pass breakup.

Robinson is a freshman linebacker from Hastings, Florida, who finished with a team-high 43 flag pulls, team-best five interceptions and three pass breakups.

Garner, Burrows and Robinson each earned the TSC Defensive Player of the Week award once during the regular season.

In addition to the announcement of its all-conference team, The Sun Conference also released the names of its academic all-conference honorees for women's flag football, and Webber's RayGene Garner and Dayne Ford were the only players from the conference to make the grade. To be eligible for the academic all-conference award, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution, and be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

This weekend, the Webber women's flag football team is set to compete in the inaugural Sun Conference Women's Flag Football Tournament on Saturday, April 17. The second-seeded Warriors will first play against third-seeded St. Thomas University in the semifinals at 12 p.m., and if they win, they will advance to play against top-seeded Keiser University in the championship game at 2 p.m.
