Gonzalez and Norman lead Men's and Women's XC at Ave Maria

Ave Maria, FL – The Webber International Cross Country teams competed at the Ave Maria Invite on Saturday morning. Both the Men and Women competed with full teams. The Men and the Women both grabbed a top-10 finish with Cameron Gonzalez leading the men and Gracie Norman leading the women.

Webber competed against SUNC opponents Ave Maria, St. Thomas, and Keiser, as well as other NAIA foes.

Gonzalez netted another top-35 finish as he finished the 8k race with a time of 30:32.2. In only his third collegiate race, Gonzalez led the Warriors for the third straight time. Andrew Rodriguez was the second finisher for the Warriors. He netted a top-50 finish with a time of 31:36.4. Derick Gomez finished third for the Warriors where he ran a 33:19.5, which was good for a top-60 finish. Michael Granados was the fourth Warrior to cross the finish line with a time of 34:31.1 netting him a top-65 finish. Carter Reynolds finished fifth for Webber, crossing the finish line at 37:31.2 good for a top-75 finish. Leo Campos Jr. crossed sixth for Webber with a time of 41:42.5. This was good for a top-80 finish. Cole Gilbreath was the final Warrior to cross the finish line as he produced a top-85 performance with a time of 45:57.3.

Norman finished first for the Women yet again, as her time of 33:13.9 gave her a top-75 finish. Lauren Brown finished second for Webber with a time of 36:42.1. This gave Brown a top-85 finish. Reyanna Troupe crossed third for the Warriors with a time of 38:16.4, which was good for the top 85. Courtnie Couch was the fourth runner to cross for Webber as she finished with a top-90 performance and a time of 42:31.2. Haley Leavines wrapped up for the Warriors with a time of 42:31.5 finished right behind her teammate and netted a top-90 finish.

Head Coach Mike Mangan was happy with both his teams' performances Saturday morning.

"The men's team competed well on the championship course. Andrew Rodriguez had a good race finishing close to our number 1 runner Cameron Gonzalez. Derick Gomez finished solidly as our number 3 in the first race of his Webber Career. Overall the men are improving weekly and are much improved over last year," Mangan said, "For the women, Gracie Norman continues as our number 1 runner. The Warrior Women ran a full squad with Haley Leavines and Courtnie Couch running their first 6k races."

The Warriors will be back in action on Friday, October 13th for the SSC Preview at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida.
