Â
The first half of play started with
Maddie Manzke looking to kick start the Warriors offense, taking two shots in the first three minutes of play. Manzke's first shot was saved by Maria Goncalves Guimares, the Lion goalkeeper, and her second shot went high over the crossbar. The Lions would attempt a strike of their own in the sixth minute, but
Atlanta Kishbaugh, the Warriors keeper for the afternoon, made her first save of the day denying Ana De Freitas of a goal for the Lions. The Lions persistent attack proved to be too much for the Warriors defense as the Lions would break the scoreless tie in the 58
th minute with a goal from Sierra Bartley assisted by Mariana Ballesteros. Mcdaid would fire a shot towards goal in the 60
th minute, but the Lions defender, Kiara Kallie was there to make the defensive save. The Warriors kept battling, looking for that elusive equalizing goal, and LaRocca had her shot at goal in the 84
