BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University women's soccer team opened its home schedule in winning fashion Saturday afternoon, earning a 1-0 shutout victory over Florida Memorial University at Warrior Grass Field.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Warriors broke through in the 82nd minute when
Sophia Schlager found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Genesis Ramírez Sánchez provided the assist, giving Webber the decisive goal with just over eight minutes remaining.
Webber controlled much of the offensive action throughout the contest, finishing with a
10-3 advantage in shots and putting four attempts on frame. The Warriors also earned two corner kicks while limiting Florida Memorial to just one shot on goal.
Brylee Kamm anchored the Warriors' defensive effort, playing all 90 minutes and recording one save to preserve the shutout. The Webber defense held Florida Memorial scoreless for the entirety of the contest.
Schlager led Webber offensively with two shots, both of which were on target, including the game-winning goal.
Ariana Suarez added two shots, while
Sydney Aldeghi,
Olof Sara Sigurdardottir,
Morgan Myers and
Samantha Chitu each recorded a shot.
The victory moves Webber to
1-1-0 on the young 2026 season, while Florida Memorial fell to 0-1-0.
