BABSON PARK, Fla. (August 21, 2019) – After a four-win season overall and a two-win conference season during year one under its new Head Women's Soccer Coach Brian Fallon in 2018, the 2019 Webber International University women's soccer team is ready to begin its second year under Coach Fallon with 24 new faces on the roster.

The start to the new campaign for the Warriors will be a tough one as each of Webber's first four matches of the 2019 season will come on the road outside of the state of Florida.

"We are truly excited about what we have ahead of us this season," said Coach Fallon. "Everything from our physicality to our mental toughness has changed. We are so much more mature at this point than this time last year. As a result, I think we are nearing that point where we will have a real impact in the conference."

It all starts in two days on Friday, August 23, at 3 p.m. against Middle Georgia State University in Cochran, Georgia. The Warriors will then battle Wesleyan College at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, in Macon, Georgia; followed by another 1 p.m. matchup with Toccoa Falls College on Saturday, August 31, in Toccoa Falls, Georgia. Webber will then finally wrap up the road trip with a third straight 1 p.m. matchup with Columbia International University on Monday, September 2, in Columbia, South Carolina.

The first official home match of the 2019 season for the Warriors will not come until Tuesday, September 24, at 2 p.m. against Florida College; but the first chance for Warrior fans to watch their team on their home field will come on Saturday, September 7, at 11 a.m. as Webber takes on NJCAA Daytona State College in exhibition action.

Overall, the Warriors were 4-11-1 in 2018 and were 2-7-1 in The Sun Conference. In the 2019 Sun Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday, August 7, the Warriors collected 29 voting points and were selected 10th out of 11 teams.

Top returning goal scorers for the Warriors looking to help Webber improve from a year ago will be senior Megan Warner, junior Leah Borders and senior Francesca Mascali. Warner led the team with seven goals in her first season as a Warrior last year while Borders found the back of the net three times and had two game winning goals. Mascali scored twice last year as a junior as well; and the threesome of scorers will be complimented on the defensive side by junior Sarah Thigpen.

Coach Fallon expects many of his new players in 2019 to make an immediate impact, but two players that have stood out over the offseason are transfer senior Sienna Scully, a midfielder from Perth, Australia, and freshman Haileigh Houmard, a defender from Lake Wales High School and the Winter Haven Kicks Soccer Club.

"Our returners are bought in, our transfers are very talented and our recruiting class is fighting for playing time," said Fallon. "It is a competitive environment this year. Currently our senior captain has done a great job preparing the team to create a team culture that will allow us be really strong off the field as well. We are looking for so many players to make a difference this year it is hard to put a list together, but we all know it's a different vibe here at Webber Women's Soccer for 2019."
