BABSON PARK, Fla. (August 23, 2018) – The Webber International women's soccer team has a lot they want to prove this upcoming 2018 season. The Warriors finished the 2017 season with a 7-5-1 overall record and went 5-4-1 in The Sun Conference.

2018 will be the first season for the Warriors under new Head Coach Brian Fallon, who is looking to rebuild the program while establishing a new level of Warrior soccer.

Key returners for the Warriors on the defensive end this season include seniors Kendelle Knapp and Jenna Kidd. Other key returners are sophomore midfielders Saoirse Browne and all-conference honorable mention player Isabella Aviolla.

With those four cornerstone pieces in place, Coach Fallon is very excited about his freshman recruiting class. Some of the freshman newcomers to watch for are Emilie Velez, Sidney Usina and Hannah Vigotty.

There are also two notable transfers that are going to add talent and depth to the Warriors' lineup. Megan Warner, a junior midfielder/forward, comes to Webber from West Herts College in England while Leah Borders joins the Warriors from NCAA Division-II Florida Southern College. Borders is the younger sister of former Warrior standout Laura Borders.

Laura Borders was one of two key players the Warriors graduated after last year's winning season. Sarah McKinney was a Second-Team All-Sun Conference goalkeeper who the Warriors could always count on to keep them in the match. Borders was Webber's second highest goal scorer with five goals and was second on the team in total points with 13.

Coach Fallon said that the team has three main goals and expectations for the 2018 season. Their goals are to win the TSC title, hold each other to be more accountable, and maintain team culture.

When asking Fallon about his goals in his first year as the Warriors' women's soccer coach, he said "I plan on working on my education as a coach every day. I want to connect with the team and create a championship mentality and culture".

The Warriors were ranked eighth in The Sun Conference preseason rankings.

"I think we are being over-looked and are a dark horse in the conference," said Fallon. "Our girls are accepting the challenge and look forward to showing what they can do. We are ready to compete with the Southeastern's and Keiser's of the world."

After a scrimmage against NCAA Division-III Huntingdon College tonight (Aug. 23), the Warriors will begin their season in two days in Montgomery, Alabama, at Faulkner University on Saturday, August 25 at 3:30 p.m.
