BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 20, 2017) – The Webber International University track & field teams hosted their 1st Annual Turkey Trot 5k Fun Run and Walk this past Saturday, November 18, on Webber's campus.
The course took the participants around the different areas of the campus. The race started on the football field and continued around the baseball stadium, down through the dorm area and then ran alongside the beautiful lakeside of campus. Participants said that the route was very nice and the course was fun to run on.
"We are glad that the event went off considering it was put together very quickly", stated Webber Track coach
David Andrews.
Congratulations to former Webber cross country standout and number one on the all-time list, Austin "AJ" Richmond, for his overall win. "This is a pretty good course, I had fun", said AJ.
Other winners that brought home a Turkey were 2015 alumni Angel Andrews and Coach Ryan Maitland of the Webber strength and conditioning staff.
Coach Andrews added, "We would like to thank Publix for sponsoring us. We were able to get 18 turkeys donated, which was amazing. And aside from the participants, several families are receiving a Thanksgiving turkey for this Thursday's meal. Thank you Publix."
Partial proceeds of the event went to The American Diabetes Association.
