BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 31, 2017) – The Webber International University men's and women's track & field and cross country teams partnered with former Warrior Track standout Bavon Sylvain to send relief packages to the island of Dominica.
Bavon lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is an assistant track coach at Pine Crest High School. However, he also represents his home island of Dominica as a long jumper for Dominica Amateur Athletic Association (DAAA).
With the resent hurricanes that ravished the islands, Bavon saw the need for aid in his home country. Many answered the call, and the Webber track & field and cross country teams would be counted in that number.

Michael Braxton II felt a tugging at his heart for all affected by the tragedies and wanted to spear head a relief effort. In a short time, the Warriors were able to pack four boxes full of items to send to Bavon.
"We are extremely grateful to those that gave and made an effort to help even though we ourselves were hit hard by hurricane Irma", expressed Warrior Head Track & Field Coach
David Andrews.
Mr. Sylvain shipped out all or the relief items last week. When asked about how he felt about the response he said, "I am extremely appreciative of the response and aid given to my country in time of need. Those affected back home continue with positive outlook on rebuilding the island to its original state".
