BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's soccer team lost today against the visiting Embry Riddle University Eagles with the final score of 1-4.
In a battle for first place in the conference, stakes were high heading into the game as both teams were determined to make separation from each other and the rest of the conference. The visiting Eagles came out with more aggression as they score two goals early in the match. Both were scored by Martine Olsen within the first fourteen minutes of the game. The first goal was assisted by Krizzy Menez. Ten minutes later, Krizzy Menez scored for the Eagles then Kristin Sverrisdottir scored another goal to put them up 4-0 headed into the half.
The second half saw the Lady Warriors came out with a little more fierce as they tried to apply more pressure on the Embry Riddle's defenders.
Aubrie Strohmenger scored the first goal for the Warriors twelve minutes into the half.
As the clock continued to count down, the rain came down pouring and the game had to be delayed due to lightening warnings. After a long wait, the game was eventually called off and awarded to Embry Riddle due to NAIA rules. There was 19.17 seconds remaining in the game.
The visiting Eagles finished the game with a total of 20 shots at the goal compared to WIU's 9 shots. Goal keeper Vance Makenzie finished the game with 6 saves.

The Lady Warriors will return in action on Sunday when they host Thomas University at home. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
