BABSON PARK, Fla. (May 25, 2022) – The Webber International University softball team is set to face the No. 11 Southeastern Fire in its opening game of the 2022 NAIA Softball World Series on Thursday, May 26, at 10 a.m. at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Georgia.

It is Webber's fourth NAIA Softball World Series appearance in program history. The Warriors (42-22 overall) match up against the Fire (49-11) for the fifth time this season in what will be a rematch of the Sun Conference Championship Final. Webber is 2-2 against Southeastern so far this season, with all four games being decided by three runs or less.

Webber enters the double elimination tournament as the No. 10 seed. The winner between the Warriors and the Fire will advance to take on No. 2-seeded Oklahoma City on Friday at 4 p.m. EST. The loser will await the loser of Freed-Hardeman and Indiana Wesleyan on Friday at 1 p.m.

The Warriors are 7-1 overall in the postseason thus far after going 4-0 in the Sun Conference tournament and 3-1 in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. Their only loss came to No. 6 William Carey University in a 3-0 defeat that lasted 12 innings in the first game of the championship. Webber would bounce back with a 5-1 victory in game two to advance to the NAIA Softball World Series.

Southeastern is 6-3 so far in the postseason. After falling to the Warriors in the Sun Conference Championship, the Fire went on to go 3-1 in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, winning the Lawrenceville bracket. Southeastern defeated Saint Xavier University in game two of the championship final, 3-2, to punch its ticket to Columbus.
