Warriors to match up against No. 14 Marian in NAIA Opening Round

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (May 15, 2022) - The Webber International University softball team received a bid after winning the Sun Conference Tournament Championship to compete in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The Warriors were placed in the Hattiesburg bracket and will first face No. 14 Marian University.

The Warriors will compete in the Hattiesburg bracket as the No. 3 seed. William Carey University will host the bracket as the No. 1 seed, followed by Marian as the No. 2 seed and Bryan College rounding out the bracket in the No. 4 spot. Webber reaches the NAIA National Championship Opening Round for the first time since 2016, when they also reached the NAIA Softball World Series. This will be the Warriors second opening-round appearance and fifth national tournament appearance overall.

It will be just the second time that Marian and Webber match up against each other, the last time being in 2013, that resulted in a 4-0 defeat for the Warriors. The Warriors will match up against the Knights as first pitch will take place at 3:30 p.m. EST on Joseph and Nancy Fail Field at William Carey University.
