MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 6, 2021) – The first road trip of the season for the Webber International University women's beach volleyball team saw the Warriors remain undefeated with a pair of conference wins over St. Thomas University and Florida Memorial University on Saturday. The Warriors first defeated STU 3-2 before winning again by a score of 3-2, this time over FMU in what was a battle of the last two unbeaten teams in The Sun Conference.
Each of Webber's No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 seeds won both of their matches on the day while the Warriors' No. 4 seed of
Hannah Tannone and
Penny Gwynn and No. 5 seed of
Shymara Dykes and
Brianda Valdez both improved to 5-0 on the season.

MATCH 1 (WEBBER 3, ST. THOMAS 2):
MATCH 2 (WEBBER 3, FLORIDA MEMORIAL 2):
- Webber improved to 6-0 all-time against Florida Memorial.
- It was a matchup not only between the last two undefeated teams in The Sun Conference, but between the two teams picked first (FMU) and second (Webber) in the conference's preseason coaches' poll.
- Emily Bowen and Montana-Rae Pelak won 21-18, 21-15 in the No. 1 spot.
- Hannah Tannone and Penny Gwynn were victorious 21-14, 21-16 in the No. 4 seed.
- Shymara Dykes and Brianda Valdez won in three sets (26-24, 14-21, 15-11) in the No. 5 position.
TEAM RECORDS: Webber improves to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in The Sun Conference while Florida Memorial fell for the first time and is now 2-1 both overall and in the conference and St. Thomas is now 1-3 in both categories.
NEXT UP: Webber will return home for two nonconference matches against NCAA Division-II schools on Wednesday, March 10. First up will be Saint Leo University at 10 a.m., followed by Palm Beach Atlantic University at 2 p.m.
