BABSON PARK, Fla. (January 11, 2021) – After spending the last 19 years at Webber International University, Kelly Scott has announced that he will be stepping down as the head coach of the Warrior football team.

Coach Scott has been a part of the Webber football program since its inaugural season in 2002, and has served as the head coach of the Warriors for the last 15 years.

Coach Scott said, "I truly enjoyed my time at Webber, most of all the young men I was allowed to work with. I wish the best of fortunes to the university and all of the young people at Webber."

In Coach Scott's first year as head coach of the Warriors in 2006, he received the NAIA Independent Coach of the Year and SEAC Coach of the Year awards.

In 2010, Webber reached seven wins for the first time in program history at 7-4, and then in 2014, the Warriors had their second seven-win season at 7-3 en route to winning the inaugural Sun Conference Championship.

In 2018, Coach Scott's Warriors got off to the best start in program history at 4-0 before ultimately finishing 7-3 and reaching the seven-win mark for the third time.

"I would like to thank Coach Scott for his commitment both to Webber and to Webber football over the past 19 years," spoke Webber's Director of Athletics Brad Niethammer. "He will always be known as one of the pioneers that helped create and establish the WIU Football program. Webber Athletics would like to wish Coach Scott all the best in the next chapter of his life."

During his tenure as head coach, Scott's Warriors were 67-77 overall and boasted 18 NAIA All-Americans and 16 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In three years in The Sun Conference, Webber had 17 first-team all-conference honorees, seven second-team all-conference members, five honorable mention players, and one academic all-conference selection.

Then, starting during the 2017 season, the Warriors moved to the Mid-South Conference, the largest conference in all of college football. In four seasons so far competing in the MSC Sun Division, Webber has had nine first-team all-conference honorees, 12 second-team all-conference members, eight academic all-conference selections, and one MSC Sun Division Freshman Offensive Player of the Year.

Webber's President and CEO Dr. Keith Wade said, "Please join me in wishing Coach Kelly Scott a fond and heartfelt farewell as he shifts his role in Webber football from head coach to diehard fan. Many, many, many are the men who owe Coach Scott everything… he has been relentless in driving men to be all they can be, often more than they even thought possible, and many is the man Coach Scott believed in even when they did not believe in themselves. I'm proud to count Coach Scott among my friends and join you in wishing him well as he seeks out new adventures."
