Taniya Patrick named First-Team All-Sun Conference; LeAndra Franklin named to second-team

LAKELAND, Fla. (February 27, 2020) – Sophomore Taniya Patrick of the Webber International University women's basketball team has been named First-Team All-Sun Conference while junior LeAndra Franklin was named second-team all-conference.

After earning TSC Freshman of the Year and second-team all-conference as a freshman last season, this season Patrick has averaged 12.4 points, eight rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game all while shooting 55.2 percent from the field. She has recorded six double-doubles while reaching double-digit points 21 times and double-digit rebounds eight times.

During Webber women's basketball's game at St. Thomas University on November 23, Patrick finished with a new career-high in both points (30) and rebounds (17). She was named The Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week not only following that performance, but then again for her 26-point game at Florida College on December 13.

After leading all of NAIA Division-II women's basketball in both total blocks (81) and in blocks per game (3.1) last season, Patrick is currently fourth in the country in blocks per game and was fifth in total blocks (78) this season in 2019-20. She is also 45th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (3.0) and is 49th in total rebounds (231).

Franklin, meanwhile, has been a Swiss army knife all season long from the point guard spot, averaging 9.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.1 steals per game. She recorded double-digit points 15 times, including a career-high 21 points at home against Edward Waters College on December 2.

Franklin was sixth in all of NAIA Division-II women's basketball with 91 total steals and was eighth in steals per game. She was also 27th in the country with 119 total assists and was 28th in assists per game.

In all of The Sun Conference, Patrick was second in the league in blocks per game while Franklin was also second in assists per game.

Following its 74-70 victory at home over Florida Memorial University on February 25 during The Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinals, Webber women's basketball is currently 18-11 overall and 11-7 in The Sun Conference with a semifinal matchup at No. 1 Southeastern University up next at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
