Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team came up just short in a heartbreaker Wednesday evening, falling to Crooked Lake Warner University 54-53 in a SUN Conference matchup in Babson Park.

Warner carried a 28-22 advantage into halftime after outscoring Webber 16-12 in the second quarter. The Warriors responded with their best stretch coming out of the break, posting a 19-11 third quarter to flip the game and take a 41-39 lead into the final period.

Webber kept building early in the fourth, pushing its lead to as many as eight, highlighted by a Danshelle Mickel layup that made it 48-40 with 7:18 left. But Warner battled back behind Aleyna Sherman and Bethany Howard, eventually tying the game at 50-50 on a Sherman layup with 1:14 remaining.

After Camryn Patterson's go-ahead layup (52-50) with 1:04 left, Warner trimmed it to one at the line, and Jaiden Ross knocked down a free throw with six seconds to play to put Webber up 53-51. Warner answered immediately: Sherman drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with five seconds left to give the Royals the 54-53 win.

Ross led Webber with 14 points (8-for-10 at the free-throw line) and six rebounds. Janaina Goncalves and Renae Brant added eight points apiece, while Patterson filled the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and three blocks. For Warner, Sherman scored a game-high 17 points, Howard finished with 14, and Carissa Marthy pulled down 10 rebounds.

Warner finished with seven three-pointers to Webber's three, and the Royals' pressure also produced 16 steals as the two teams combined for 47 turnovers
