BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2018) – Backed by a complete game one-hitter from freshman Jason Rewis and a two-run triple by Luis Besterio, the Webber International University junior varsity baseball team defeated Warner University 2-1 during game one of a doubleheader on the Heart of Florida Field on Wednesday. In game two, the Warriors again had solid pitching, but could not get anything going offensively, falling 1-0.

Besterio's triple in game one came in the fifth inning with Robert Lyons and Orlando Pena starting on first and second base.

In the 1-0 defeat in game two, starter John Hilcher threw five innings while Braden Peterson and Besterio each added scoreless innings from the mound.

Rewis gave up his only allowed run of game one after a hit by pitch led to a groundout RBI to short in the third inning, and Hilcher's allowed run in game two came in similar fashion in the fifth inning after walking the bases loaded led to a ground ball RBI to second base.

Next up, Webber JV baseball will have five more consecutive home games to complete a nine-game home stand. The Warriors will host Frederick Community College at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, followed by Lincoln Land Community College at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.
