Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2018) – The Webber International University softball team fell to the University of Northwestern Ohio, 6-0, on a windy and cloudy Tuesday afternoon at
Nancy Nichols Field.
All six of the Racers runs were scored in the first two innings of the contest, including four of which came in the second inning.
With four runs already on the board with one out in the second inning,
Raven White entered to pitch and settle things down, and she accomplished just that, giving up only three hits, one walk and no runs over her 3.2 innings pitched.
White combined with
Dariyen Moss to keep the Ravens in check over each of the last five innings. In her two innings of work, Moss did not allow a hit and walked only one batter.
Unfortunately, the Warriors' offense was unable to get anything going against the Ravens' starting pitcher, Aubrey Brunst, who struck out six batters and combined her efforts with a few key defensive plays from Northwestern Ohio's fielders to limit Webber to only two hits, coming from
Meghan Lindell and
Beatriz Navarro.
After game one of the originally scheduled doubleheader was moved up from 2 p.m. to a 1 p.m. start time, game two was postponed after a half inning due to lightening and will not be rescheduled.
Webber is now 12-7 overall after Tuesday's game and UNOH improves to 12-4 overall.
The Warriors will be back on
Nancy Nichols Field on Saturday, March 24, for a Sun Conference doubleheader against Southeastern University starting at 1 p.m. in Babson Park, Florida. It will be the second doubleheader between Webber and the Fire this season after the Warriors swept then No. 16-ranked Southeastern and had a three-hit shutout from
Sabrina Hebding back on February 24.
