Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – #15 Webber International University baseball took on the visiting Embry-Riddle Eagles today in a non-conference matchup. The Warriors used a powerful offense to overpower the Eagles 13-6 in route to their 32
nd win.
GAME NOTES: Burdett Picks Up 4th Win, Rivera Knocks In 6 RBI's
A beautiful night for baseball started with both the Warriors and Eagles neck and neck deadlocked at 0-0 until the top of the 4
th inning. The Eagles used 1 double and 2 singles to drive in 4 runs in the top of the 6
th. With bases loaded in the bottom of the 4
th,
Matt Saliba was hit by a pitch and that walked in a run to get the Warriors on the board 4-1.
Cristian Rivera notched his first hit of the night by hitting a sacrifice fly that scored
Connor Clayton.
Manny Rodriguez then hit a single into left field and scored
Mark Martinez. Shortly following,
Sjaghbar Martis hit a single right up the middle into center field that scored
Matt Saliba. The Warriors tied it up 4-4 in the bottom of the 4
th. In the top of the 5
th the Eagles jumped out in front again scoring 1 and taking the lead 5-4. The Webber bats would not go silent as in the bottom of the 5
th Mark Martinez singled in
Tanner Williams. Then with bases loaded,
Cristian Rivera hit a bases clearing double to give himself 4 RBI's on the night. Then Martis hit a safrifice fly to score Rivera nad just like that, the Warriors took a 9-5 lead. The Eagles gained 1 run in the top of the 6
th off a throwing error. Then in the bottom of the 6
th,
Jacob Lopez shot a double down the left field line that scored
Tanner Williams and
Matt Piatt.
Cristian Rivera capped off the scoring and his night with a single up the middle that scored
Mark Martinez and
Jacob Lopez and gave Rivera his monstrous 6
th RBI of the night. The game would remain scoreless in the duration giving the Warriors a 13-6 win.
STATLINE: Cristian Rivera without a doubt stole the show as he went 2-3 at the plate with 1 double, 6 RBI's and 1 run scored.
Matt Piatt was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
Jacob Lopez went 2-3 with 1 double, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
Manny Rodriguez had a notable 1-2 at the plate while walking 3 times.
Max Boling started on the mound throwing 4.1 innings and giving up 5 runs off 9 hits.
Brad Burdett,
Daniel Timmons,
Jesse Coleman and
Zachary Gary all combined for 4.2 innings only giving up 3 hits, 1 unearned run and striking out 7.
Brad Burdett was given the win moving him to 4-1 on the year.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Webber International is now 3-0 this season so far against NCAA D-II opponents. They finish off their final home series this weekend with none other than the Lake Caloosa rivals, the Warner University Royals. They take on the Royals in a double header on Friday that starts at 1:00 p.m. then finish off with senior day on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m.
