Softball Sweeps Thomas University With Power Off The Bats

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla – The Warriors took on the visiting Nighthawks today in Sun Conference play. Webber took both games finishing the first game 9-1 and the second 7-5.

The first game was an offensive onslaught for the Warriors. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Shanelly Brown, came to bat with the bases stocked full of Warriors. She smashed a double into right field that scored all three runners giving the Warriors a 3-0 lead. The Night Hawks answered back right away with the RBI single off the bat of Brittany Daniels. Laura Borders hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 4th, Brandi Hazen hit a monster two run homer that jumped the Warriors out to a 6-1 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Kara Seymour singled in Megan Isoba making it a 7-1 lead. With runners on first and second, Shanelly Brown found herself at the plate again. She bunted down the third base line and a throwing error by the third baseman scored both Kara Seymour and Katie O'Dell completing the mercy 9-1.

The second game was a battle between both teams going back and forth at the plate. Thomas University struck first with a double by Rachel Hoeft that scored Alex VanWagner. In the top of the 3rd inning, Hoeft doubled for the second time scoring Brittany Daniels putting the Warriors down 0-2. The Warriors answered in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Kara Seymour doubled scoring Katie O'Dell. Shanelly Brown singled in Seymour followed by Brandi Hazen smacking a double that scored Brown. It ended up being a 3-5 game until the bottom of the 5th when the hot bat of Brandi Hazen got up and homered yet again tying the ball game 5-5. In the bottom of the 6th, Brown broke the tie by singling in O'Dell, which was directly followed by Alyssa Householder doubling in Brown.

Two great games played by the Warriors today as they took both from the visiting Night Hawks. They look to carry the momentum into tomorrow as they take on the visiting University of South Carolina Beaufort Sand Sharks in another Sun Conference matchup.
