BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University football has named Dewey Lusk its new offensive coordinator, announced head coach Kelly Scott. Lusk brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Warriors coaching staff.
Lusk joins Webber International after five seasons as the head coach and offensive coordinator for the University of Virginia – Wise, where he also served as associate head coach/offensive coordinator (2005-2010).
In his final season with the Cavaliers, 15 players were named to the All-Mountain East Conference academic honor roll. 30 offensive school's records were broken with Lusk at the helm of the program, including the single-season record for points per game (49.5). Linebacker Zachary Blair was named the 2015 VaSID College Division All State Defensive Player of the Year under Lusk's tutelage. He also coached current Orlando Predator quarter back Randy Hippeard. Lusk was integral in the programs transition from NAIA to NCAA Division-2. During his tenure at Virginia – Wise, 14 players were All-Conference selections.
Before moving on to Virginia – Wise, Lusk was the offensive coordinator and head baseball coach at Emory & Henry College from 1990-2004. Lusk led the Wasps to eight ODAC football championships, two NCAA D-3 playoff bids and two undefeated regular seasons.
Lusk got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Gardner – Webb University. He would become the full time wide receivers coach and recruiter for the Bulldogs for three seasons.
Lusk graduated from Gardner – Webb in 1987 with a degree in physical education and also played wide receiver for the Bulldogs.
