Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University baseball hosted one of the top teams in the nation in No. 6 Davenport University, Friday night. Six errors would be the Warriors downfall, as Webber International would fall to the Panthers, 12-5.
The top of the Warriors' lineup was great against Davenport, picking up nine hits and four RBI. Lenin Sanchez and Brett Kaminski both went 3-5 on the night. Ramon Sanchez picked up two hits and three RBI, including a homerun.
Davenport picked up a run in each of the first three innings, only one earned, to take an early, 3-0, lead.
Webber International hit back in the bottom of the fourth. Sjaghbar Martis put the Warriors on the board with a triple. Taylor Layner pushed Martis home in the next at-bat with a sacrifice fly, cutting the Panther advantage to 3-2.
The Warriors would see Davenport score the next six runs, going up 9-2.
R. Sanchez swung momentum for Webber International in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run to dep left center, bring the Warriors within four.
The comeback was on in the eighth as the Warriors loaded the bases with no outs. A liner to first turned into an unassisted double play, effectively ending the game for Webber International.
After the final out was recorded, the Warriors had fallen to the Panthers, 12-5.
