Baseball Drops Tough Matchup Against Embry Riddle

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University baseball played host to Embry Riddle, Wednesday, for a mid-week clash. The Eagles jumped out early and never let up, downing the Warriors, 12-3.

On a night when the Webber International bats were quiet, Mike Castilla had a strong night. Castilla went 3-4 with an RBI, a double and a walk.

The Warriors had plenty of chances to get back in the game but would strand double-digit runners on the base pads.

Embry Riddle scored four runs before the Warriors got on the board. Webber International opened the bottom of the fourth by forcing the second baseman into two errors. A single and a walk would load the bases with one out. Jordan Thomas was then hit by a pitch, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

The Warriors would give up two home runs, as Embry Riddle would jump ahead, 10-1.

Webber International would see six players reach base in the bottom of the seventh, as the Warriors attempted to start a comeback. Castilla would drive in a run with a double to deep left center. Later in the inning, Daniel Aviles would draw a bases-loaded walk, bring the score to 11-3.

The Warriors would eventually fall, 12-3.
