Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University softball hosted the College of St. Joseph, in a midweek doubleheader. Neither game went the distance as the Warriors forced the mercy rule, taking game one 8-0 and game two 12-0.
Brandi Hazen and Laura Borders continue to hit the cover off the ball. Hazen went 3-5 with seven RBI and a home run. Borders finished the day, 3-5 with four RBI and a home run.
Reigning Sun Conference pitcher of the week, Erika Bellinger picked up her second win of the season in game. Bellinger threw five scoreless innings, striking out two and allowing only one hit. In game two, Naomi Spurgron pitched three perfect innings, striking out four, while Melanie Murphy closed out the game with two scoreless innings, striking out four as well.
St. Joseph 0, Webber International 8
The Warriors opened game one with a four-run first inning. Kayla Montgomery picked up the first run, followed by a three-run bomb from Borders. Webber International added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-0. A RBI double down the left field line from Katie O'Dell in the sixth, pushed the Warriors advantage to 8-0, evoking the mercy rule.
St. Joseph 0, Webber International 12A massive third inning led the Warriors to victory in game two, securing the sweep. Webber International saw 13 at bats in the bottom of the third, registering seven hits, three walks and eight runs.
