Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University softball kicked off the 2016 season with a double-header against Calumet College of St. Joseph, Friday afternoon. The Warriors rolled out a high-powered offense against the Crimson Wave, knocking over five homeruns, including two grand slams. Webber International took the first game 6-1 and won out in game two, 9-1, in five innings.
Brandi Hazen was electric against the Crimson Wave. She went 3-4 with a walk, registered four RBI and two home runs. Laura Borders was also fantastic going 2-5, with six RBI, two homeruns including a walk-off grand slam in the second game of the double-header. Kayla Montgomery also got in on the hit parade, going 2-5, with four RBI on a grand slam.

The Crimson Wave got on the board first, going up 1-0 in the top of the first. The Warriors responded right away when Hazen sent the ball over the left field wall for a two-run homerun, pushing Webber International ahead, 2-1.
Webber International would take control of the game in the bottom of the third, rattling off five runs. The Warriors loaded the bases with three single, bring up Montgomery with one out on the board. She took full advantage of the moment, crushing the ball deep to left-center for a grand slam, bringing the score to 6-1 in favor of Webber International.
Calumet College would score two more runs, but the Warriors would hold on for the, 6-3, victory.

In game two the Warriors belted three homeruns, eventually cutting the game short to five innings.
The early goings of game two played out similarly to game one, with the Crimson Wave scoring first and the Warriors hitting back early, bringing the score to 1-1 after two innings.
Hazen and Borders would both hit two-run homers in the third inning, giving Webber International a 5-1 advantage.
Two innings later, Borders stepped up to the plate with the base loaded and belted a grand slam deep over the left field wall. The four runs gave Webber International a 9-1 lead after five innings of action, cutting the game short and giving Webber International its second victory of the season.
