No. 24 Football Rumbles Past Arizona Christian, 48-21

PHOENIX, Ariz. – No. 24 Webber International University football opened the 2015 season with a rousing, 48-21, victory over Arizona Christian, Saturday night. The Warriors running game dominated the hot night, racking up 470 yards and seven touch downs. Senior running back Darius Page led Webber International's ground game with 206 yards and three touch downs, while junior quarterback Billy Pavlovck added three rushing touchdowns of his own.

The Warriors came out  of the gate fast, taking a commanding, 21-7, lead after the first 15 minutes. Senior Brendan Deshields scored the Warriors first touchdown of 2015, capping the opening drive with a massive 31-yard run. The defense started out fast as well, with Daniel Sizemore coming up with an interception on the Firestorm's first drive. The Warriors would find the end zone two more times, thanks to runs by Page and Pavlock.

The second quarter was a defensive struggle, with Webber International scoring the only touchdown of the period. With a minute left in the first half, Page punched it in from three yards out to put the Warriors up 28-7, heading in to halftime.

After an hour weather delay, Webber International ran in three touchdowns in the third quarter to push its lead to 42-7. Page and Pavlock both notched scores on the ground in the quarter, their third and second respectively. The defense was strong in the third as well, shutting out Arizona Christian for the second time in the game.

The Firestorm was able to score twice in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Warriors would go on to win, 48-21. Early in the fourth, Pavlock scampered 13 yards to the end zone for his third score of the game. With seven minutes left in the game, the Warriors put together an impressive 13-play drive to kill the clock, led by Mario Bargineer's 42 yards on seven carries.

Webber International is back in action, Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm on the road at Stetson.
