BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors softball team hosted the #23 ranked NAIA Davenport University Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers collected the sweep over the Lady Warriors winning both games, game one 9-3 and game two 7-2.
GAME ONEThe Lady Panthers struck first in the top of the first with a solo shot homerun, 1-0. In the top of the third inning the Lady Panthers extended their lead hitting another solo shot, 2-0. Davenport scored again in the top of the sixth inning driving in two runs, 4-0. In the Bottom of the sixth inning
Jennifer Hamil hit a three run homerun to bring the Lady Warriors within one run of the Lady Panthers, 4-3. The Lady Panthers scored five runs and shutdown the Lady Warriors in the bottom of the inning winning the game 9-3.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field were;
Jennifer Hamil going one for three at the plat with one homerun and three RBI's; and
Stephanie Cabrices hit three for three scoring one run.
GAME TWOThe Lady Panthers put the first runs on the board in the top of the second inning scoring three runs, 3-0. In the bottom of the second inning the Lady Warriors scored two runs, 3-2. Davenport responded scoring one run in the top of the third inning, 4-2. In the top of the fifth the Lady Panthers scored three more runs to go up, 7-2. Going into the bottom of the fifth inning the coaches decided that it was becoming too dark to continue play and call the game. The Lady Panthers won with the final of 7-2.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field were;
Jasmine Rodriguez going one for two at the plate with two RBI's;
Stephanie Cabrices and
Kimberly Davis for scoring the only runs for the Lady Warriors in game two.
The Lady Warriors record falls to 6-9 overall and they will return to action on Saturday, March 7
th as they take on Trinity International University at 1:00 p.m.; Saint Xavier University at 5:00 p.m.; and Spring Arbor University at 7:00 p.m.
