DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors baseball team completed their conference series with Embry-Riddle as they split the double-header. The Warriors won game one (13-5) and lost game two (8-3). The Eagles won the series 2-1 over the Warriors.
In game one Webber put the first runs on the board as they scored three in the top of the fourth inning. The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as they put their first runs on the board. The Warriors regained the lead in the top of the seventh as they scored four more runs. Then in the top of the ninth inning Webber drove in eight runs. The Warriors defense held the Eagles to only three runs in the game as they won 15-3.
Leading the Warriors in game one were:
Austin Aubuchon hit three for five at the plate scoring three runs and had two RBI's;
Dylan Price also went three for five at the plate scoring two runs with two RBI's;
Cody Warren hit three for four at the plate scoring one run with four RBI's;
Chris Suto went one for five at the plate scoring one run and had one RBI.
Josh Ganus collected the win for the Warriors pitching staff. Ganus threw for seven innings giving up three hits and three runs while striking out five batters.
In game two the Eagles put the first runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning scoring two runs. Embry-Riddle extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth scoring one run. Webber responded in the top of the sixth inning as they put their first run on the board cutting the Eagles lead to two. In the top of the seventh inning the Warriors cut the lead to one scoring one more run. In the top of the eighth inning Webber tied the game scoring their last run. In the bottom of the eighth inning the Eagles regained the lead scoring five runs. Embry-Riddle won the game with a final score of 8-3.
Leading the Warriors on the field in game two were:
Shae Cothran going one for three at the plate scoring two runs and
Chad Buckley going one for two at the plate scoring one run.
The Warriors record moves to 28-26 overall and 13-14 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, April 23
rd for Senior Day as they host Eckerd College starting at 7:00 p.m.
