Lady Warriors Split Conference Double-Header with Ave Maria

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors softball team traveled to Ave Maria University to play in their first conference series. Webber pulled out game one with a score of 3-2 just to see Ave Maria do the same in game two.
 
The Lady Warriors put the first run on the board in the top of the first inning in game one. Then in the top of the fourth inning Webber extended their lead scoring two more runs. Ave Maria responded in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored two runs of their own. The Lady Warriors collected their first conference win in their conference opener.
 
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field in game one were: Kaley Levy going two for three at the plate scoring two runs and one RBI; Ashlyn Harden going one for three at the plate and scored one run; and Alyssa Householder going one for three at the plate with one RBI.
 
Naomi Spurgeon collected the win for the Lady Warriors' pitching staff.
 
In game two, the Lady Warriors started off fast scoring one run in the top of the first. Ave Maria responded tying the game in the bottom of the third inning. Webber regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning only to see Ave Maria tie in the bottom half of the inning. Ave won the game scoring one round in the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field in game two were: Francesca Magliocchetti going two for three at the plate with one run and Alyssa Householder scoring one run.
 
The Lady Warriors record moves to 12-10 overall and 1-1 in The Sun Conference.
 
The Lady Warriors return to action on Tuesday, March 25th as they host Mt. Mercy University in a double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
