BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University Warriors baseball team hosted the #28
th placed team in the NAIA, Davenport University, last night. Late in the game, the Warriors rallied to upset the Panthers, 3-2.
The Warriors started
Dylan Price on the mound against Davenport. The Panthers ended the stalemate by scoring the first run of the game in the top of the 6
th inning. The Warriors tied the game in the bottom of the 6
th and in the bottom of the 7
th they scored two more runs gaining the lead. Davenport cut into Webbers lead in the top of the 8
th scoring one run. The Warriors defense shut down the Panthers in the 9
th winning the game 3-2.
George Schmitt collected the win for the Warriors pitching staff throwing two innings allowing two hits and two runs.
Rob Lane collected the save for Webber pitching the last one and a half innings shutting down the Panthers.
Leading the Warriors on the field were:
Shae Cothran going one for three at the plate and scoring one run;
AJ Arroyo also went one for three at the plate, scored one run and had one RBI;
Chad Buckley hit one for three from the plate and scored one run;
Cody Warren hit one for one at the plate with an RBI;
Chris Suto went one for four at the plate with one RBI.
The Warriors record improves to 10-10 overall and will return to action on Saturday, March 1
st as they host #14 Bellevue University in a double-header starting at 3:00 p.m.
