BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors baseball team hosted Clearwater Christian College last night, February 25th. The Cougars squeaked by the Warriors late in the game to win 11-10.
The Cougars put the first runs on the board scoring two in the top of the first inning. The Warriors responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the second Clearwater drove in five more runs only to see the Warriors tie the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs. Webber gained the lead for the first time of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning after scoring three runs. Clearwater Christian College overtook the Warriors in the top of the 7th inning scoring four runs winning the game 11-10 in nine innings.
Leading the Warriors on the field were; #14 Shae Cothran, a senior from Gainesville, Florida, going two for four at the plate and had three RBI's; # 15 Chris Suto, a senior from Longwood, Florida, also went two for four at the plate and scored two runs; and #20 AJ Arroyo, a junior from New York, went one for three at the plate and scored two runs.
The Warriors record falls to 9-10 overall and Clearwater Christian's record improves to 4-8 overall.
Webber will return to action on Thursday, February 27th as they host #28 Davenport University with the first pitch set for 7:00 p.m.
