BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors softball team hosted Western University Lady Mustangs in a 1:00 p.m. double header. The Lady Warriors split the double-header 1-1 with the Lady Mustangs winning the first game 4-1 and the Lady Warriors on top in game two 5-1.
Game One
The Lady Mustangs scored the first run on the game in the top of the 2
nd inning, 1-0. Then in the top of the 3
rd inning they extended the lead with two more runs, 3-0. The Lady Warriors waited until the bottom of the 5
th inning to respond scoring one run, 3-1. In the top of the 7
th inning the Lady Mustangs scored the final run of the game winning 4-1 over the Lady Warriors.
Kara Stirling received the win for the Lady Mustangs on the mound and
Jessica Sheffield would receive the loss.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field in game one were: #5
Sydney Jones with the lone run for the Lady Warriors off one hit; #16
Kalei Levy and #7
Jennifer Hamil with two hits; and #12
Francesca Magliocchetti and #18
Jasmine Rodriguez with one hit each.
Game Two
.
The Lady Warriors put the first run on the board in the bottom of the 5
th inning as both teams played great defense. The Lady Mustangs tied the game in the top of the 6
th inning scoring one run. The Lady Warriors rallied in the bottom of the 6
th inning scoring four runs and went on to win game two 5-1.
Naomi Spurgeon collected the win on the mound for the Lady Warriors and MacKenzie Hawkins collected the loss for the Lady Mustangs.
Leading the Lady Warriors in game two were: #12
Francesca Magliocchetti scored two runs off one hit; #16
Kalei Levy and #15
Alyssa Householder both scored a run for the Lady Warriors; #7
Jennifer Hamil drove in two RBI's with two hits; and #8
Jaylynn Cabrera scored one run as a pinch runner for Hamil.
The Lady Warriors record moves to 4-8 overall and the Lady Mustangs record moves to 29-3 overall.
The Lady Warriors will return to action on Tuesday, February 25
th as they host Edward Waters in a double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
