BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors softball team hosted #21 ranked NAIA William Carey University Lady Crusaders in a 1:00 p.m. double header. The Lady Crusaders ran all over the Lady Warriors winning both games with finals of 8-2 and 14-7.
Game One
The Lady Crusaders started out strong scoring two runs in the top of the first inning while have two outs. In the bottom of the first #24
Ashlyn Harden hit a two run homerun with two out tying the game 2-2. William Carey would again score two more runs in the next two innings with two out putting them ahead of WIU 6-2. In the top of the 6
th inning the Lady Crusaders scored two more runs and the game ended with a score of 8-2.
Brittany LeBlanc collected the win for William Carey on the mound and Jessica would receive the loss.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field in game one were: #24
Ashlyn Harden scoring one run, two hits, and two RBI's and #7 Jennifer Hammil with one run.
Game Two
The Lady Crusaders again put the first points on the board in the top of the 1
st scoring one run, 1-0. In the top of the 2
nd inning they extended their lead as they scored two more runs, 3-0. In the bottom of the 2
nd inning the Lady Warriors rallied scoring seven runs. #9
Lydia Hough hit a grand slam scoring four of the runs, 7-3. Throughout the rest of the game William Carey scored at least one run in all the innings and six in the top of the 7
th. WIU was unable to produce any offense the rest of the game and lost with a final score of 14-7.
Brittany LeBlanc collected the win for William Carey again and
Naomi Spurgeon collected the loss for WIU.
Leading the Lady Warriors in game two were: #9
Lydia Hough with a grand slam, four RBI's, one hit, one run; #16
Kalei Levy with two hits, one RBI and a run, #7
Jennifer Hamil with two hits and a run.
The Lady Warriors fall to 3-7 overall and the Lady Crusaders improve to 5-1 overall.
The Lady Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, February 19
th as they host Western University in a double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
