Lady Warriors take two from Dordt

Babson Park, Fla. - The Webber (17-10) softball team returned from spring break and quickly got back to their winning ways as they took both games of a doubleheader from Dordt College, 2-1 and 7-4.
           
In the opener WIU sent senior hurler Kristen LeFan to the mound and she turned in a one hit, 12 strikeout performance enroute to her 9th win of the season. The 12 K's raised her NAIA leading strikeout total to 156 on the year. 
                       
At the plate, the Lady Warriors were led by Junior Ashley Clark who went 3 for 3 and scored two runs. Joy Fuller and Shauna Ward each went 1 for 3 and drove in a run while Samantha Mendello continued her solid hitting with a 2 for 3 performance. 
           
In the nightcap, Senior Kristen Stewart took the mound for the Warriors and earned her 6th win of the season while striking out 9. Stewart gave up only 6 hits in the contest and no earned runs. 
 
The Lady Warriors came out swinging in the second game and scored three runs in the first inning. Ashley Clark and Kristen LeFan both reached on errors and Joy Fuller drove them in with a three run blast to left field. Fuller finished 2 for 3 in the game with a double, HR and 3 RBI's. 
 
Also going deep for WIU was senior Samantha Mendello who hit a 2 run shot in the 3rd for her 4th homerun of the season.
 
 Others contributing with a solid game at the plate were Ashley Clark (2 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI's, 1 run) and Brittany Spencer (2 for 3, 1 run).
           
The Lady Warriors return to action on Wednesday, March 17th as they take on #22 ranked Auburn University Montgomery at Nancy Nichols Field on the campus of Webber International University. First pitch is slated for 3:00.
