Winter Haven, Fla. – Webber International Lady Warrior's softball team split, in day one of The Sun Conference Tournament.
Opening the tournament the number three seeded, Warriors, took on the number two seeded, Bobcats.
Pitching six innings for the Warriors was Kristen LeFan, allowing only five hits, one run, while striking out seven.
Holding a scoreless game for six innings, the Bobcats lone run was scored on a base hit to centerfield by Garcia that scored pinch runner, Fernandez in the bottom of the seventh. The Bobcats defeated the Warriors 1-0, in game one.
After a tough loss to St. Thomas University, the Warriors took on local rivals, Warner University.
On the mound for the Warriors was Kristen Stewart pitching six innings, allowing only seven hits, two runs, and striking out four.
Scoring first in the first inning, the Royals took an early lead. As the Warriors came to bat, putting three runs on the board, and taking a 3-1 lead.
As both teams went scoreless for three complete innings, the Royals came back and put yet another runner across the plate, making it a 3-2 game in the Warriors favor.
With a runner on third, two outs, and LeFan in to close the game, the Warriors take the win from the Royals and advance to the semi-finals of the conference tournament.
The Warriors will take the field again at 10a.m. as they play the Bobcats, of St. Thomas University, where they will fight to play in the 1230p.m. championship game versus Savannah College of Art and Design.
