SAVANNAH, Ga. – Webber Intentional University Lady Warriors softball team won game one of the NAIA Region XIV Tournament against Savannah College of Art and Design 7-6 and took a loss against local rival Warner Southern College 5-11.

In the first game the Warriors played the Bees of Savannah College of Art and Design.  The Warriors came into game determined not to make this game another 13 innings like their last match up with the Bees.  The Warriors scored first making it a 1-0 game.  It was not long before the Bees took a three run lead over the Warriors. Down on the scoreboard but not down at the plate the Warriors fought back to tie the game with a two run homerun by senior Tara Wilson.  The Warriors managed to put one more run on the board to make it a 7-6 lead over the Bees.

With two outs on the board and runners on second and third, the Warriors found their way out of a jam and held on for the win over the Bees.

Leading the Warriors at the plate was seniors Liz Wallace, Amanda MacIntyre, and Tara Wilson. On the mound for the Warriors was senior Kaysha Hillard.  Hillard also garnered trophies for the All-Conference and All-Region teams.

In game two the Warriors where matched up with their cross town rivals Warner Southern College.  The Warriors did not seem to come to game two with the same intensity as they did in game one with the Bees.

Giving up runs early in the game the Warriors fell behind early 1-3 and could not seem to find there way out of the hole until the fifth inning when they put three mores runs on the board making it a 5-10 game.

But it was not enough for the Warriors as the Royals put another run on the board for a 5-11 win over the Warriors.

The Warriors will take on the Bee's of Savannah College of Art and Design again tomorrow at 11 a.m. Being a double elimination tournament the Warriors have one more chance to prove they deserve to remain in this tournament.
