Miami Gardens, FL – The 7th ranked Webber International Flag Football team put together a dominant all-around performance on Thursday evening, rolling to a 45-0 Sun Conference win over Florida Memorial in Miami Gardens. The Warriors improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in league play after scoring in each of the first three quarters and holding the Lions off the board all night.
Webber wasted no time setting the tone, striking on the opening possession when Luzariana Herrera connected with Kaitlyn Sigmundi for a 66-yard touchdown pass just 14 seconds into the contest. The Warriors doubled the lead later in the first quarter when Kwanesha Bonelli stepped in front of a pass and returned the interception 40 yards for a touchdown, giving Webber a 12-0 advantage after one.
The Warriors broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Florida Memorial 26-0 in the period. Herrera found Ijyana Edwards for a 58-yard touchdown early in the quarter, then Cheyenne Durand scored on a 5-yard touchdown reception after her own interception return set Webber up deep in Lions territory. Webber added two more scores before halftime to take a 38-0 lead into the break.
Webber added its final touchdown in the third quarter when Brylee Kamm hit Sigmundi for a 15-yard score, capping the Warriors' seventh touchdown of the night. Webber finished with 281 yards of total offense, including 273 through the air, while completing 22-of-35 passes with six passing touchdowns and no interceptions.
Herrera led the offense by throwing for 218 yards and five touchdowns, while also contributing on the ground. Kamm added 55 passing yards and a touchdown. Sigmundi turned in a huge receiving performance with six catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns, while Edwards added a 58-yard touchdown catch and Savannah Cox hauled in three receptions for 51 yards and a score. Durand also finished with three catches for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Warriors were relentless. Webber recorded five interceptions and four sacks while limiting Florida Memorial to just 104 total yards. Bonelli led the takeaway effort with two interceptions, including the pick-six, while Durand, Jayla Jones and Sigmundi also came away with interceptions. Kahliya Gaitor, Chloe Price, Yasmin Lott and Nurishka Oyola each registered sacks as Webber's defense kept the Lions out of rhythm from start to finish.
