Warriors Bounce Back Against Saints

Babson Park, FL – The 7th ranked Webber International Flag Football team bounced back against the Siena Heights Saints on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors took the lead from the start and never looked back, cruising to a 40-26 victory.

The Warriors wasted no time setting the tone. On the opening possession, Luzariana Herrera connected with Kaitlyn Sigmundi before Ijyana Edwards turned the play into a 66-yard touchdown to put Webber in front. Moments later, the Warriors struck again on defense as Kwanesha Bonelli returned an interception 30 yards for a score, giving Webber a quick two-touchdown cushion. Herrera added another rushing touchdown later in the first quarter as the Warriors surged to a 21-6 lead after one.

Webber's defense continued to make game-changing plays in the second quarter. Rylee Bolser stepped in front of a Siena Heights pass and took it back 21 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 27-6. Later in the quarter, Herrera found Cheyenne Durand for a five-yard touchdown pass to make it 34-6 before Siena Heights answered with two late scores to trim the margin to 34-18 at the break.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Warriors added breathing room early in the fourth when Kahliya Gaitor found the end zone on a three-yard touchdown. Siena Heights added a late touchdown and conversion, but Webber's defense held firm the rest of the way to secure the 40-26 victory.

Herrera led the Warriors through the air, finishing 18-of-31 for 270 yards and four touchdown passes, while also adding a rushing score. Sigmundi paced the receiving corps with seven catches for 51 yards and two touchdowns, while Edwards added 28 receiving yards and the game's opening score. Durand also hauled in a touchdown catch for Webber.

Defensively, Webber was dominant with six sacks and four interceptions. Bolser had a huge all-around performance with 14 total tackles and a pick-six, while Bonelli added eight tackles and an interception return touchdown of her own. Kahliya Gaitor recorded three sacks to lead the pass rush, and Ijyana Edwards and Durand each added interceptions in the win.
