Campo Named Head Men's Beach Volleyball Coach

Babson Park, FL – Webber Athletics and Athletic Director Brad Niethammer are proud to announce the hiring of Luis Campo as the Head Men's Beach Volleyball Coach. Campo brings a long history of Beach Volleyball to the Warrior Beach Program.

Campo comes to the Warriors with 19 years of training high-performance athletes. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (Venezuela, 2009) and has had the opportunity to coach national teams and help develop young players throughout his career. For 8 years Campo has served as one of the head coaches for the Venezuelan National Beach Volleyball Team and served for a year as the head coach of the Ecuadorian National Team.

 Additionally, he is the founder and head coach of ATR Volleyball Academy in Orlando, Florida, which was established in 2019. At ATR, Campo trains youth athletes, including several who are ranked among the top five in the U.S. junior beach volleyball rankings. His international coaching background includes Olympic qualifiers, World Championships, Pan American Games, Bolivarian Games, and South American Championships, while also holding international coaching certifications and being passionate about developing elite athletes.

Some of his key achievements as a coach include, helping the Venezuela's Women's Beach Volleyball Team qualify for the Olympics, gaining international experience with both Venezuela and Ecuador, founding ATR Volleyball Academy, training top-ranked junior athletes in the U.S., and coaching university teams at UCLA (Barquisimeto) for six years. In addition, Campo has, over the past four years, coached his two sons to each become national champions in the U14, U16, and U18 divisions in the male category, competing in AVP 4-star tournaments and the USA Beach Volleyball National Championship.

Niethammer is excited for Coach Campo to get to work here at Webber and is hoping to continue the Men's Beach Volleyball's current success.
