Box Score 4 Babson Park, FL – The Webber International University Warriors took on four opponents over the course of the week, securing three victories over Warner, Edward Waters, and Barry, while falling to St. Thomas.
The Warriors opened the weekend against Warner University in a tightly contested three-set match. With strong offensive performances from Carson Barnes and Kevin McCarthy, Webber beat Crooked Lake Rival Warner and secured a 3-0 victory. Set one was a back-and-forth affair, with Webber edging out Warner 14-10 in kills to take the early lead. The Royals responded in set two, but Webbers efficient attacking kept them ahead, taking the second frame 27-25. In the final set, Webber showed flashes of dominance, and closed out Warner 25-15
Webber entered a five-set thriller against St. Thomas University. The Warriors found themselves early lead, taking the first set 25-18, but St. Thomas battled back in the second The match turned into a seesaw battle as St. Thomas took set three before Webber responded in the fourth. In a decisive fifth set, both teams came out firing, but St. Thomas ultimately prevailed 15-10 to take the 3-2 win. Despite the loss, Webber had a stellar defensive performance with Jacob Tanner Best recording 13 digs and Kevin Reiz leading at the net with seven blocks.
The Warriors closed the weekend with a dominant showing against Barry University, sweeping their opponent in three sets. Webber controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an impressive .325 as a team while limiting Barry to just .224. Trent Massey led the offensive charge with 11 kills, while Ayden Keeter dished out 30 assists to facilitate the attack. After a strong first set, Webber ramped up the pressure in set two, hitting .409 to establish control of the match. The Warriors sealed the win in set three, outlasting Barry 25-20 to secure a much-needed victory.
With the week over, Webber International continues to build momentum as they prepare for the final stretch of the season. The Warriors will look to carry their strong offensive play into upcoming conference matchups.
