Waverly, GA – The Webber International Men's Golf team competed in the 2024 Coastal Georgia Invite to open up the 2024-25 Golf season on Monday and Tuesday. Coming off of a Top 16 performance at NAIA Nationals in May, the Warriors backed up their positioning with a 5th place finish amongst 17 teams, including reigning champion Dalton State.
The Warriors were led by Vedant Sirohi. Sirohi continued his strong Webber career, finishing individually in a tie for 6th place shooting two over par after three rounds. He had back-to-back one under finishes in rounds one and two to be two under par after round two. Sirohi finished the third round with a four over par performance to finish 6th.
Mykolas Vasiliauskas was the second Warrior for the tournament, he finished tied for 13th. Vasiliauskas went even par for the first round. In the second round he went four over par, and in the third round, he improved with a one over par performance. All in all he finished the tournament five over par putting him tied for 13th.
Gustaf Yngfalk was the third highest Warrior, making his debut for Webber. Yngfalk finished the tournament in a tie for 36th place. In the first round, he was four over par, and at the end of day one he had shot another three over par to end the day seven over. For round three, he again was three over par, to finish 10 over par for the tournament.
George Holloway finished fourth for Webber at the tournament. In round one, Holloway was seven over par. He fired back in round two going for an even par before another seven over in round three. He finished 14 over par for the tournament.
Zico Correia was the final finisher for the Warriors, taking home 60th place. In his Webber debut, Correia brought in rounds of nine over par and five over par to end the first day. In round three, he shot his best round of the week with a four over par performance. He finished the tournament 18 over par.
After the tournament, Head Coach Stuart Winsby was proud of his team and their perseverance.
"A great start to the season finishing in a tie for 5th. Proud of how the guys stayed in the right mindset for 54 holes. It was a tough golf course under wet and windy conditions. Our eyes are looking forward to this weekend at the Seahawk Sailboat Shootout."
The Warriors will be back in action on September 16th and 17th when they travel to West Palm Beach for the Seahawk Sailboat Shootout hosted by the Keiser University Seahawks.
