West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International Women's Beach Volleyball team competed against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors battled tough but were unable to overcome the Sailfish, losing 5-0.
The Warriors sent out pairs of Janna Morrissey and Lily Arnold, Kendall Steinert and Nadia Reid, Abby Baxter and Kiersten Tisdale, Delanie Johnson and Leyni Young, and Andrea Padilla and Anna Morton against the Sailfish.
Morrissey and Arnold played it close in the first game. They were down by four early after the first eight points, 6-2. The pairs would go back and forth as Arnold and Morrissey would fight back to get within three points at 17-14, however, the Sailfish would prove victorious in the first set 21-17. The pair started the second set down big, and were unable to stop PBAU, dropping 21-11 and losing the match 2-0.
Steinert and Reid needed extra points in their first set. A back-and-forth set saw the Warriors tie the set at 9-9. The Warriors would go back down as the Sailfish tried to put the duo away. However, down 20-19, Webber would storm back and tie it at 21. Although their efforts were mighty, they were unable to reel in their opponents, dropping the set 25-23. Reid and Steinert would drop the second set to the Sailfihs, also losing 2-0.
Baxter and Tisdale were not able to fair any better than their teammates, as they also dropped 2-0. Johnson and Young as well as Padilla and Morton also dropped 2-0 and the Warriors fell to the Sailfish 5-0.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, February 28th when they host the Florida Southern Mocs at 1 and 3 PM.
