Huntsville, AL – The Webber International Men's Beach Volleyball team competed at the AVCA Men's Beach National Championship over the weekend, against Stevenson, Erskine, and Liberty. The Warriors dominated pool play against the competition, but fell short in the championship round, falling to Erskine 3-2.
The Warriors played three pool play matches, winning each 5-0. In match one against Liberty, Carson Barnes and Ayden Keeter won 21-9 and 21-15 out of the ones court. JT Corr and Trent Massey won 21-12 and 21-14 out of the twos, Joao Vitor Lima and Max Tome won 21-12 and 21-8 out of the threes, Tanner Best and Dallas Hitchins won 21-9 and 21-13 out of the fours, and Andrew Nielsen and Talan Stephens won 21-11 and 21-11 on the fives court.
Against Stevenson, Barnes and Keeter won 21-15 and 21-14. Corr and Massey won 27-25 and 21-15, while Vitor Lime and Tome won their court in three sets, 21-10, 32-34, and 15-10. Janis Dobelis and Joan Galmes played the fours for this match, winning in three sets, 21-18, 16-21, and 15-13, while Best and Hitchens won 21-19 and 21-19.
In the match against Erskine, Barnes and Keeter took care of the ones, going 21-18 and 21-15, Corr and Massey went 21-17 and 21-17, Vitor Lima and Tome won 21-14 and 21-14. Dobelis and Galmes won the fours at 21-17 and 21-17, while Nielsen and Stephens won the fifth court in three sets, 21-11, 11-21, and 15-13.
In the championship bracket, Webber matched up with Liberty again winning 5-0. Barnes and Keeter won the ones court 21-14 and 21-13, Corr and Massey won 21-18 and 12-9, Vitor Lima and Tome won 21-8 and 21-10, Dobelis and Galmes won 21-13 and 18-15, while Best and Hitchins won 21-4 and 21-7.
Webber matched up with Stevenson in the final, falling 3-2. Barnes and Keeter won the ones court, 21-8 and 21-15. Dobelis and Galmes won the fours court for Webber, winning 21-16 and 24-22. Corr and Massey fell in three sets, 21-16, 16-21, and 13-15. Vitor Lima and Tome fell 18-21 and 19-21, and Best and Hitchins fell 15-21 and 20-22.
Webber ended its season as the AVCA Men's Collegiate Beach Volleyball National Runner Up. The Warriors will be back in the fall of 2025.
