Warriors fall 3-1 to Division-III California Lutheran on the road

Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (January 23, 2022) - The Webber International University men's volleyball team concluded its road trip in California on Saturday night as it fell 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23) to Division-III California Lutheran University.

The Warriors (2-3 overall) had a hitting percentage of .208 in the match compared to California Lutheran's (3-3) .223 percent. However, Webber finished with more kills than its opponent totaling 51 to the Kingsmens' 46.

Webber was competitive in each of the first two sets but the Kingsmen had the edge in both sets, taking a 2-0 lead and putting the Warriors back's to the wall. The Warriors would fight back in set number three however, having their best set in terms of hitting percentage at .292 percent and winning the set 25-18. The team put up a fight in the fourth set attempting to level the match, but it was too little too late as the Kingsmen held off the Warriors and earned the 3-1 victory.

Leading the team in kills was senior Daniel Hermida with 15 kills followed closely by Chris Ludwig with 13. Ludwig finished with a hitting percentage of .308 while also leading the team in digs with 15. Peyten Young totaled 40 assists on the night while Tinaishe Ndavazocheva led the Warriors with four total blocks.

The Warriors now return home to host Edward Waters University on Thursday, January 27, at 7 p.m. It is a short return home as Webber will then get back on the road for what will be seven-straight road matchups.
