BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 27, 2021) – The top-seeded Webber International University women's beach volleyball team defeated fourth-seeded Warner University 3-1 in the semifinals before falling to third-seeded Florida Memorial University 3-1 in the finals of the first ever Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Championship, which was held on Saturday, March 27, on the Webber Campus Beach Volleyball Courts.

In the other semifinal matchup, Florida Memorial came back to defeat second-seeded Ave Maria University 3-2 after falling behind 2-0, setting up its championship bout with the Warriors.

In the championship match against Florida Memorial, The Sun Conference Pair of the Year, Hannah Tannone and Penny Gwynn, won at the No. 4 seed to give Webber a 1-0 lead. Then tied 1-1, each of the final three seeds in action went to a third set before FMU won at the No. 5 seed and then the No. 1 seed to close it out.

The Warriors are now 6-4 on the season, and will have a scrimmage match against the State College of Florida at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 9, before the AVCA Small College Beach Championship April 16-18.
