BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 22, 2021) – The Webber International University women's beach volleyball team suffered its first Sun Conference loss of the season against its Crooked Lake rival Warner University, falling 3-2 at home to the Royals.

COACH'S CORNER: Webber's Head Beach Volleyball Coach Jessica Gehrke-Hauptmann said, "Over this past week our team has been battling through adversity with some injuries and we had to try out some new partnerships. It was a tough loss for us today and we will regroup as a team and prepare for the conference tournament this weekend."

• No. 1: Julia Ferraro and Montana-Rae Pelak
• No. 2: Jessica Terry and LaRee Crockett
• No. 3: Hannah Tannone and Penny Gwynn
• No. 4: Brianda Valdez and Wandaleen Harris
• No. 5: Molly Fusarelli and Veeva Lee

 
RESULTS:

• Hannah Tannone and Penny Gwynn won 21-12, 21-14 in the No. 3 spot while Molly Fusarelli and Veeva Lee cruised to a 21-6, 21-12 victory in the No. 5 position.
• Webber lost in three sets both in the No. 1 and No. 4 spots as Julia Ferraro and Montana-Rae Pelak lost 21-17, 19-21, 15-10 in the top spot and Brianda Valdez and Wandaleen Harris fell 13-21, 21-12, 16-14 in the four spot.
• Jessica Terry and LaRee Crockett fell 21-17, 22-20 in the No. 2 spot.

 
TEAM RECORDS: Webber fell to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in The Sun Conference while Warner improved to 2-2 and 2-1 and earned what was only its second win against Webber in their last seven meetings. The Warriors still lead the all-time series between the two teams 8-4.

NEXT UP: Webber will host a scrimmage match against the State College of Florida at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, and then on Saturday, March 27, the Warriors will compete in The Sun Conference Championship Tournament.
