BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 22, 2021) – Coming off the back of three straight defeats, the Webber International University men's basketball team got back to winning ways after a 63-56 victory over the visiting Florida National Conquistadors on Monday night.

Webber (3-5 overall, 0-2 SUN) shot a season-high, 54.9 percent from the field as a team. Defensively, the Warriors held Florida National (1-2) to just 32.9 percent shooting from the field while outrebounding them 43-35.

Jaylon Myles led the Warriors offensively with 16 points, 11 of which came in the first half where he shot a perfect five of five. He was followed by Terrence Lakes with 14 points while also adding a game-high six assists and Chinecherem Anukaenyi with 10 points. Anukaenyi led both teams with a total of eight rebounds followed by Loro Natana with six and Myles and Tiyon Martin each with five.

Anukaenyi and Natana had two blocks each while Myles, Marcus Massey, and Justin Boyd all had two steals each on the defensive side of things.

"Great team win against a scrappy and tough Florida National team," Head Coach Gabriel Rutledge said after the game. "Our guys had great energy throughout our warm-up and it showed in the first half. We made a few mistakes late in the game but battled through them to get key defensive stops. I challenged our guys coming off the bench at halftime to be better and several of them made big-time plays. I would also like to thank all the fans who came out and supported us. Go Warriors!

The Warriors now travel to Campbellsville, Kentucky to participate in the Campbellsville University Thanksgiving Classic. The first matchup will be against Campbellsville University on Friday, November 26, at 6 p.m. followed by a game against Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday, November 27, at 2 p.m.
