BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 6, 2019) – The top-seeded Webber International University women's beach volleyball team swept fourth-seeded Florida Memorial University 5-0 in the semifinals before topping second-seeded Southeastern University 4-1 in the finals to win the Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Invitational, held on Saturday, April 6, at the Webber Campus Beach Volleyball Courts.

Other matches in the tournament featured a 4-1 win for Florida Memorial over fifth-seeded Ave Maria in the first match of the day for the right to play the Warriors while on the other side of the bracket, Southeastern defeated third-seeded Warner University 4-1 to set up its championship bout with Webber.

With the pair of wins, Webber (15-9 overall) improved to 9-1 overall against teams from The Sun Conference, having defeated both Florida Memorial and Southeastern now three times in three tries.

Webber's new Head Beach Volleyball Coach Jessica Gehrke-Hauptmann said, "I'm really proud of our team's performance on this historic day for beach volleyball and The Sun Conference. We are looking forward to competing at the ACVA Small College Championships."

Webber, which improved to 10-1 and home on the year and finished the season on a nine-match winning streak at home, will also take a current seven-match winning streak into the AVCA Small College Beach Championship in two weeks. When playing against the types of teams the Warriors will face at nationals, Webber is now 9-1 on the season against fellow NAIA schools, and is 4-0 against NCAA Division-III teams.

Pair of the Year: Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner, Webber's No. 2 duo, was named The Sun Conference Pair of the Year after playing together the entire season and going 8-0 in Sun Conference matches with only 182 points allowed entering the tournament. In all, with the TSC Invitational wrapped up and only the national championship remaining, Breuklander and Glouner are 14-10 overall as partners so far.
